Tim was born in Portland Oregon. He
moved to Tacoma WA in his early teens where he started playing Drums in local bands. At the age of 17 Tim's interests turned from Drums to Guitar and he started to pursue a career in song writing. Tim then formed a band called "Grizzly", which did all original material, and within 8 months they were playing Rock Festivals with bands like:
The Young Bloods, Redbone, & Commander Cody to name a few... Tim's first "taste" of The Blues was when he had the opportunity to open for the legendary Albert Collins at The Break Thru Night Club, up until that point Tim had only listened to The Blues on recordings, seeing Albert live was a real "eye opener" for him as well as other local musicians. Not long after, "Grizzly" disbanded and Tim helped form a new band named "Foghorn Leghorn" members included Robert Cray, Richard Cousins & long time friend Jho Blenis... although the band only lasted 8 months, they made a mark as one of the area's first local Blues bands. Trying to broaden his horizons, Tim moved to Hawaii, but found it very confining musically so he moved back to the mainland after a year. In 1978 Tim rounded up some good friends to form the band "Nyanza". This band would stick it out for 10 years, playing the majority of clubs in the Tacoma, Seattle area, performing mainly cover songs, Tim felt it was time to develop his own style & once again pursue The Blues. In 1989 Tim released his first album titled "After Hours" under "The Tim Hall Band" name. In 1994 The Tim Hall Band signed with Outlaw Records and released "Ghosts in the Closet" which really helped the band gain some momentum in the local scene, by 1999 the band released their third CD titled" Runnin' with the Blues" on Seaport Records. All three recordings are still selling very well on the local market. In
2002 Tim was awarded "Blues Man of the Year" by The Tacoma Blues Foundation...Now, with a brand new CD due out this year the Tim Hall Band is still on a roll.
